Recorded in August of 2011 at a concert at the Hungry Brain in Chicago, this document showcases these two frequent collaborators (Vandermark 5, Resonance Ensemble, Made To Break) working at the height of their musical abilities. Some of the material is reminiscent of the energy found in the classic duo pairings of John Coltrane/Rashied Ali and Dewey Redman and Ed Blackwell. Other aspects have a connection to the history of European free improvisation. Throughout the hour plus of music presented here for the first time, the level of spontaneous creativity is exceptional, and a testament to why the collaborative partnership with Tim Daisy has been essential to Ken Vandermark’s artistic development for more than a decade.
